#LovetoRead at West Bridgford Library: Highlights

Published 17th November 2016

Inspire Libraries supported the BBC’s #LovetoRead weekend recently (5-6 November), in a bid to inspire everyone to read more.

The campaign aimed to spread the reading bug with a focus on social media. Inspire’s efforts included:

  • A Reading Chair at West Bridgford library, which saw a BBC radio presenter, local authors, library staff and Inspire Board members reading aloud at the library - with live tweeting and Facebook posts telling the story of the day’s events.
  • Encouraging people to take reading selfies and photo book recommendations for posting on social media.
  • Staff taking part in the selfie challenge and recommending their own favourite books.
  • A special live event at Worksop Library featuring a panel of crime writers talking about the books they love and posting about the event on twitter.

Local readers at West Bridgford Library also got involved by leaving book recommendations at the library which will be used to create a special Pinterest board that will be shared on our social media.
