Competition: Design a Musical Playground

In celebration of Read to the Beat, Summer Reading Challenge 2026, we're asking children aged 4 - 11, to get creative and design and draw a musical themed playground.

Two winners will each receive a prize bundle for them; consiting of a vtech music making prize (either DJ Mix or Drum set), headphones and a £30 shopping voucher..PLUS...£100 of books for their school.

• Pick up an entry form at any Inspire Nottinghamshire Library (forms will be available by 18 July 2026) or download a copy below.
• Then get creative!  Think about what makes your playground musical.  Does the play equipment make sounds?  Is it shaped like a musical instrument or musical notes? Something else?  Let your imagination make some noise!
• Return completed entry forms by 31 August 2026 to any Inspire Nottinghamshire Library or email your entry to: 
  musicalplaygroundcompetition@inspireculture.org.uk 
• Don't forget to add in all your contact details, including a parent/guardian's signature.

• Entries must be submitted by 31 August 2026
• Children must have a parent/guardian's permission to enter.
• There are two age categories 4 -7 and 8 - 11. 
• One winner, and two highly commended entries, will be chosen from each age category.
• Only one entry per child is permitted.
• The competition is open to children living in, or attending a school in the county of Nottinghamshire.  
• Entries will be judge on creativity, originality and effort.
