Sherwood Voices: intro

We’re gathering hidden tales and little-known knowledge about the people and places in the Sherwood Forest area, to help us create surprising new recorded story walks. We need to hear from you to get started! 

If you live in, or nearby, the following towns or villages, we want to hear your stories . . .

We want to hear from everybody: Those whose families have lived here for centuries to people who have moved here more recently. 

We want to hear stories past and present, about the people and places you know, or have heard about.

Excavate Theatre has been producing memorable projects exploring the histories, identities, tensions and cultures of communities across the East Midlands since the year 2000.

Working in places and spaces that are often extremely challenging, Excavate know that where a story is told is as important as the way in which it is told.

Miner2Major is a five-year Landscape Partnership Scheme (2019-2023), supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Focussing on the heart of Sherwood Forest area – from Bestwood to Ollerton, and Mansfield to Rufford Abbey – Sherwood is an ancient forest, with a complex and fascinating history to match.
