The Library Service received £82,477 of Arts Council England funding to develop an exciting and innovative family theatre project in Nottinghamshire libraries. Working with our partner The Spark Arts for Children the Children’s Pop Up Theatre project delivered 38 performances and 48 workshops from August 2015 - April 2016 attended by over 2800 people.
The Spark, a registered charity that offers children the opportunity to discover and enjoy the arts as audiences, as learners and as creators of their own art produced a new play for the project and programmed the theatre productions and workshops.
The Spark Arts for Children have been working in partnership with Inspire since 2014 with a focus on developing and delivering high quality performances to children and families in Library settings. The partnership has been incredibly successful delivering to date 5 seasons of performances and interactive workshops in a range of theatre crafts such as puppetry, poetry and visual art. As an organisation our vision is to engage children in creative opportunities as audiences, learners and makers of their own art and our work with Inspire has enabled us to develop our ambition and reach to many more children & families across the region. It has been a pleasure collaborating with the team at inspire who are fully committed to supporting performances in their libraries. Nottinghamshire ensure these spaces are cultural hubs at the heart of their communities and it has been a pleasure to be part of this journey. We look forward to continuing our work in partnership over 2017 and beyond.
