Hucknall Library

Hucknall Library

Welcome to Hucknall Library! Situated in a bustling market town with Hucknall market on our doorstep, we are steeped in local heritage with links to Lord Byron and his talented daughter Ada Lovelace who was recognised as being a pioneer in computer science.  Our library services are second to none, showcasing our cultural heritage alongside modern technology and learning events.

Everyone is welcome and will find something of interest.

For young customers we have three weekly Rattle, Rhyme and Roll sessions and there are our Crafty Tuesday art sessions after school during term time.  You can also visit our regular Saturday afternoon board games and colouring activity.

For the rest of us, if you’re artistic and want to hone and share your skills, please come along to our weekly Monday morning Craft and Cardmaking session.

Or if you just enjoy talking to others and can handle a pair of knitting needles, why not visit our Knit and Natter group on Fridays.

For local history buffs, we have a thriving Local Family History group who would welcome new members and meet in the library once every month. At the same time, you can peruse our splendid Local Studies collection, featuring the famous Lord Byron and local music composer Eric Coates.  Back copies of the Hucknall Dispatch and other local publications are also available to peruse on microfiche.

We are proud to play host to the team of volunteers from Hucknall Tourist and Regeneration Group, who are on hand to answer questions on local events and facilities.

Check out the What’s On section for more information about our events and courses. Amongst them you’ll find a fantastic range of community and family learning courses with Inspire Adult Learning. Whether you want to fit in a new hobby or learn a new skill, we can offer a high-quality learning experience.

Finally, we have a Facebook page @InspireHucknallLibrary where you can find out about everything we’re up to.

Don’t delay, please visit us soon. We look forward to meeting you.

Important notices

We are changing book suppliers!

While we transition to our new supplier, there will be a short period where we will be unable to order new titles published from April onwards. We will get this back up and running as soon as possible and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Removal of DVDs in libraries

Due to a reduction in demand, we will be phasing out our DVD collections in libraries from Monday 1 April 2024. Reservations may still be placed until Monday 18 March, however stock levels across the county may vary and this may have an impact on availability of titles. Any DVDs held in our heritage collections will be retained and can be loaned as usual. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
