Newark library is centred in Newark town close to the Market Place. Our lovely, bright library enjoys green views of the surrounding park. It’s a great place to read, learn and take part in a host of activities.

The library is well stocked with a wide range of books and there are lots of displays and quick picks stands to inspire your selection. Staff are always on hand for recommendations and suggestions too.  Our Café area has a coffee machine and comfy seats with lovely views, so why not sit and relax with a book?

Join in our events and activities: there’s something for everyone! Rattle, Rhyme and Roll runs twice a week for under 5’s. It’s a very popular session and a great way to meet new friends. If you’re looking for something to do on Saturday mornings, why not drop into our children’s Lego Club and Games Club? We always have lots of extra activities running through the school holidays, plus various family theatre shows throughout the year.

If you’re looking to meet new people and socialise in a friendly environment, try our Places of Welcome coffee mornings, Heritage Café, Scrabble Club or Crafty Natter group. Our monthly Reading Groups are also popular and a great opportunity to try new books.

Or, if you're into learning more about heritage and the local area, you can access our local studies collection in the library.

We have 11 computers for public use and free WI-FI for our customers. Help is at hand for anyone wanting to know more about their laptop, tablet, or phone - our volunteer is available during our bookable ‘Let’s Talk Tech’ sessions.

Keep up to date with all our events and news by checking out our Inspire Newark Facebook page.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.

We are changing book suppliers!

While we transition to our new supplier, there will be a short period where we will be unable to order new titles published from April onwards. We will get this back up and running as soon as possible and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Removal of DVDs in libraries

Due to a reduction in demand, we will be phasing out our DVD collections in libraries from Monday 1 April 2024. Reservations may still be placed until Monday 18 March, however stock levels across the county may vary and this may have an impact on availability of titles. Any DVDs held in our heritage collections will be retained and can be loaned as usual. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
