Strange Creatures: performances for schools

A fun and accessible introduction to classical music in Mansfield Central and Worksop libraries inspired by the picture book Beegu  written and illustrated by Alexis Deacon.

Strange Creatures gently explores friendship, communication and belonging in a surprising and colourful world.  

Inspired by Alexis Deacon’s popular book Beegu, the piece follows 3 initially grumpy companions as they play games, have fun and experience the ups and downs of friendship. 

Told through magical, theatrical chamber music, including works by Mozart, Shostakovich and Judith Weir, this intimate and engaging show, performed by exceptional musicians, will delight children aged 4 - 7.

Performances offer an accessible introduction to classical music and an opportunity to experience storytelling through music.  A supporting  resource pack will be available for teachers.

For children aged:  4 - 7

Running time: 40 minutes

Strange Creatures is inspired by the book Beegu written and illustrated by Alexis Deacon and performed by arrangement with Penguin Random House Children’s Publishers UK, a Penguin Random House company.
