Online Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training

Our online Diploma in Education and Training is designed to allow teachers to develop practical skills which reflect the context in which they teach. It is aimed at those wanting to teach adults in colleges, community settings, or as a volunteer. The requirement is to be observed delivering in the setting, so you must already be teaching. The course is aimed at those teaching 14+ learners.

Eligibility

  • You need to be in a teaching role with adult learners, or post-16 learners outside of a school setting, for a minimum of 50 hours per year over the 2 years, teaching groups of at least 5 learners and on occasion 12 or more learners
  • Your role will include completing lesson plans, schemes of work, individual learning plans, assessment preparing/planning, informal and formal assessments and resource preparation
  • You must have a mentor prior to the start of the course
  • You need to provide the name and contact details of a senior/experienced professional in your organisation who can act as your specialist mentor for the duration of the course. Your mentor will be qualified/experienced in the subject you are teaching to at least the same level and will already be a qualified teacher (PGCE/DTLLS/DET)
  • You should be able to achieve Level 2 as a minimum in your English, Mathematics and ICT skills
  • You should hold a level 3 qualification in your specialist area
  • You will be required to provide a current DBS check

Attendance

Our online Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is a 2-year part-time programme running term-time only.

Our next course starts Monday 15 January 2024 and will run Mondays during term-time, 3 - 7pm.

You will be required to have a laptop or computer and internet to enable you to access the live classes on Zoom, you will also be required to attend each of the sessions and hold 1:1s with your tutor. 

Assessment

You will have to complete 4 mandatory assignments and up to 6 optional units.

What are the progression opportunities upon completion?

This qualification will allow you to progress to a BA Honors in Education and Qualified Teaching and Learning status.
