On this short course you will discover and enjoy the life and works of Countess Manvers of Thoresby Hall, a local woman artist, her work and influences. The work of this interesting woman spans the 20th Century and depicts local and global change.
During the first part of the 20th Century, It was unusual for women to gain academic train as artists, to then have the opportunities to experiment with artistic style and portray their travels. This three-hour taster, gives learners the opportunity to find out about this artist, and make comparisons with other women artists of the same period. Understand key art terms and approaches to reading portraiture, travel painting and still life. Discovering and analysing how this artist approached these subjects.
By the end of this course you will begin to develop skills in:
Understanding the work of a lesser-known 20th Century woman artist
A suitable electronic device such as a laptop, tablet or smartphone with internet access. This is an online course. Learners will be required to download and use Zoom (free software).
