An inspiring artistic couple, working from the first half of the 20th Century, with a background of academic training, breaking boundaries, exploring subject matter. Dame Laura Knight was the first woman to be elected as a full member of the Royal Academy and the couple travelled, joined artistic communities and portrayed important social change in Britain.


On this course you will gain an understanding of these East Midlands artists and how artists see the world, through learning about their history and background, academic training, Impressionism and portraiture,

the impact of World War 2 and artistic communities.


A suitable electronic device such as a laptop, tablet or smartphone with internet access. This is an online course. Learners will be required to download and use Zoom (free software).  Pen and paper to make notes.


To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete the EVENTBRITE BOOKING.
  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been a resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in the UK with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Greater Manchester, Greater London, Liverpool City Region, Tees Valley, West Midlands and West of England.
