This 6 week course is designed to enable participants aims to help adults gain the skills and knowledge to increase their confidence and learn strategies to enable them to become more assertive.
You will receive a one and a half hour online ‘lesson’ with your tutor and other students once a week and then will be given short tasks to work on over the week and feedback to the group the following session.  We will be using Zoom (a virtual video application) to present the course.  You will need to be able to access it ideally on a PC/laptop or tablet. You will need to be able to send and receive emails from your tutor during the course and these will contain links to the information you will need. 

On this course, we will be looking at:

  • What is confidence is and isn’t and how it may appear in different areas of our life
  • Strategies to help build confidence
  • What assertiveness is and the impact of different styles and personalities passive, assertive, aggressive
  • Identifying and Developing assertive behaviours for yourself and when working with others;
  • Ways to develop and demonstrate self-confidence and assertiveness; Identifying what you want to achieve, setting personal goals and objectives

Learners will require: Internet access and video call facilities, Pen and Paper.

This is an online course. A suitable electronic device such as a laptop, tablet or smartphone with internet access will be required. Learners will be required to download and use Zoom (free software).


To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete the EVENTBRITE BOOKING.
  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been a resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in the UK with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).


As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas: Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Greater Manchester, Greater London, Liverpool City Region, Tees Valley, West Midlands and West of England.
