About this course

This course offers you the opportunity to use colours to start and develop creative writing. We will use a variety of writing exercises as well as prompts to kick start the writing process. You can write in whatever form you like – poetry or prose or both! – and experiment with different types of writing in a supportive environment. Beginners and those who have done some creative writing are all welcome.

What will be covered on the course?

  • We will use colour-themed prompts such as objects and images to provide inspiration for writing, and we will also use material in different genres – fiction/flash fiction/poetry/creative non- fiction. You will develop an understanding of the role of feedback in developing your creative writing as well as an introduction to primary/secondary/tertiary colours, and the colour wheel

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

  • You will have written in a variety of genres including poetry
  • You will know how to use real life prompts to spark your writing, and apply that knowledge in future writing activity
  • You will develop skills and confidence to give development feedback on others’ work
  • You will understand primary/secondary and tertiary colours and the colour wheel
  • You will have more confidence in your creative writing

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

  • None except literacy skills
