What are the aims of the course?   

  • To enable learners to feel confident about writing a poem 
  • To equip learners with tools, resources and techniques for writing poetry 
  • To  support learners in turning an idea in to a strong piece of writing 
  • To learn from the work of published poets 
  • To remove the barriers to getting started on writing poetry 

What will be covered on the course?  What will be taught to learners? 

  • How to turn ideas and inspiration in to a strong piece of writing 
  • How to make imaginative links between life experience, the work of other poets, and learners’ own creativity 
  • To understand more about rhyme, rhythm , metre and the structure of a poem 
  • How to analyse and critique their own work and that of others 
  • What will learners achieve by the end of the course? 
  • They will gave all written at least one poem 
  • Know more about the work of a range of poets 
  • Feel confident about the taking the next steps in their writing journey 
  • Have gained  tools, knowledge and experience of writing poetry 
  • Have discovered enjoyment and satisfaction in the craft of writing 

As this course is online, a suitable device such as laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer will be required to access the course.  Zoom will be used for the live sessions and the link will be sent to you once your enrolment has been completed. 


 


To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete the EVENTBRITE BOOKING.
  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been a resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in the UK with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Greater Manchester, Greater London, Liverpool City Region, Tees Valley, West Midlands and West of England.
