About this course

This beginner's course introduces the craft of crochet and will show you how to hold a crochet hook and the wool/yarn to create a simple bag/purse.  You will learn a variety of crochet stitches whilst delving into the history of crochet.  You will also gain an understanding of the different terminology used in both English and American crochet stitches and crochet hook size conversion to metric (both UK and US) 


By the end of the course, you will be able to:

  • Hold a crochet hook and yarn
  • Perform a variety of basic crochet stitches such as a single, double, treble and slip stitch
  • Have an understanding of different terminology used for English and American crochet
  • Have an understanding of the crochet hook size conversion for metric (UK and US)
  • Have an understanding of the history of crochet

You will need:

  • A crochet hook size 4, 4.5 or 5, yarn, a notebook and a pen

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
