About this course

Our Map Reading Made Easy for Kids course is suitable for parents/carers and their children (aged 8-11) who want to understand the basics of map reading.  Please note, for health and safety reasons, there is a maximum of 2 children per adult and children must be supervised at all times.

Interested in understanding the basics of map reading?  An ideal course for families looking at:

• What is a map?

• What are all the different map symbols?

• What direction are you going in?

• How do grid references help you to find places?

• What is scale?

• How do you measure distance?

• How are hills and mountains shown on a map?

By the end of this course, you and your child will have an understanding of basic map reading skills.

There will be an opportunity to put your skills into practice with a walk round Kingsmill Reservoir.

For the walk round Kingsmill Reservoir,  you will need sensible shoes and a waterproof coat.
