This course is an opportunity to learn about the natural pharmacy of herbal remedies growing in the hedgerows and gardens locally, and how they can safely benefit our health.
We will investigate a selection of herbs (including trees!) that grow abundantly in the hedgerows and gardens in and around Nottinghamshire.
The traditional and contemporary uses of the herbs will be discussed alongside folklore and scientific discoveries.
All natural remedies can have unexpected effects and safety is important. We will look at possible side effects and cautions to be considered when using herbal remedies at home.
Although the course is presented remotely, it is hoped that participants will be able to participate experientially by examining plants found nearby or perhaps drinking herbal tea during the sessions.
Guidance will be given regarding the safe use of herbal remedies at home and a book list of further resources will be provided.
Bring a notepad and pen to make some notes.
Please bring a cup of herbal tea, or another drink of your choice to the first session.
This is an online course. A suitable electronic device such as a laptop, tablet or smartphone with internet access will be required. Learners will be required to download and use Zoom (free software).
