About this course

Using different tools and ink you can access an amazing variety of styles and techniques creating freedom in your drawing. Your professional art teacher will guide you step-by-step in order to build your skills and confidence, focusing on subjects like composition and mark-making using rhythm, repetition and intuition. The course will encourage participation, experimentation and reflection, whilst exploring the expression of self.

What will be covered on the course? What will be taught to learners?

Artist research: Nina Archer
Working out innovative, dynamic compositions in ink washes
Using dynamic and bold mark making
Drawing & pen painting techniques

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

Learners will know how to work in a spontaneous manner often using large brushes to make sweeping gestural marks and different painting techniques like dripping, scumbling or pouring.

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

None

You will need:

A3 acrylic paper pads, Indian ink and acrylic inks, white acrylic gesso, palette, spray bottle, a range of synthetic paint brushes, sponge brushes, pen, pen nibs, metallic palette knife, graphite pencils, silicone spatula, photo reference

As this course is online, a suitable device such as laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer will be required to access the course. Zoom will be used for the live sessions and the link will be sent to you once your enrolment has been completed.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
