To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been a resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in the UK with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

On this 3 session introductory blended learning course, you will learn how to take creative photographs and edit your work.  You will also have the opportunity, as a group, to meet up with our industry standard, professional photography tutor, at one of Sherwood's many heritage buildings, to take images and find out  about some of Nottinghamshire’s  heritage (own camera required). Learners will be invited to submit an edited piece of work for inclusion in a digital Miner2Major project exhibition. 

On this course you will learn:

  • A selection of creative techniques to enhance your photography
  • An introduction to some of the functions off auto
  • An introduction to editing using basic corrective and enhance tools such as contrast exposure, brightness, vibrance, shadows and highlights

What will learners achieve by the end of the course? (outcomes)

  • Learners will understand how to take one or more creative photographs on their own camera     
  • Learners will have extended their knowledge of camera functions and settings through experiencing a live  practical session at an agreed heritage venue. 
  • Learners will know how to do a simple edit to enhance / improve their shot using common tools

There will be a field trip as part of this course, which may possibly  have uneven ground (venue to be advised at session 1).  Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and sensible footwear for this.

You will need a digital camera, A suitable device, such as a laptop or tablet with internet access, will also be needed for this course which is to be undertaken remotely (at home). Learners will be required to download and use Zoom (free software).
