About this course

This course has been designed for Learners at the very start of their IT journey. This 4-week, face-to-face, course will cover IT basics, for example;

  • How to turn on your device and navigate a computer
  • How to connect to Wi-Fi and access the internet
  • How to load your favourite website and save as a favourite.
  • How to set-up an email address and access an email account

By the end of the course you should be able to start up your device connect to the internet and browse your favourite websites. You will also become familiar with key icons on your computer desktop.


It is preferable to have you own laptop to learn on, so you become familiar with the layout and icons on your individual device. However, laptops are available if required – just request one at the time of booking.


Once you complete this course you will be ready to enrol on an accredited basic IT qualification called Essential Digital Skills. The Essential Digital Skills qualification will further develop your IT skills in areas such as, transacting, keeping safe online and using digital communications.

Booking your place and fee information

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete the EVENTBRITE BOOKING.
  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

You should be redirected to the Inspire Online Enrolment Form after completing the Eventbrite booking.  If you are not redirected, please use the link supplied in the Eventbrite booking confirmation email.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:

  • Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield 
  • Cambridgeshire and Peterborough
  • Greater London
  • Greater Manchester
  • Liverpool City Region
  • Newcastle Upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Northumberland
