About this course

This qualification is designed to increase learners’ knowledge and understanding of mental health and mental well-being. Successful completion of the required units will allow the learner to develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of mental health. It will also support progression into relevant employment within the health and social care sector.

This qualification will:

  • focus on the study of mental health and mental well-being to support different occupational areas
  • offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge and understanding.

The objectives of this qualification are to help learners to understand:

  • mental health legislation, services and public attitudes and how these have evolved
  • how to support mental well-being through various stages of life
  • mental ill-health, treatment options available and the potential consequences of mental ill-health
  • the skills required to work in a mental health service.

In order to achieve the full qualification learners are required to complete 5 mandatory units.


Learners are required to attend 1 session a week on a Wednesday, the course will not run over the school holiday periods, but self study maybe set over these periods.

Booking your place and fee information

FREE - if you earn less than £18,525 gross salary, are on a means-tested benefit or do not hold a full level 3 qualification.

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete the EVENTBRITE BOOKING.
  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

You should be redirected to the Inspire Online Enrolment Form after completing the Eventbrite booking.  If you are not redirected, please use the link supplied in the Eventbrite booking confirmation email.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
