About this course

Macramé is relaxing and therapeutic craft, as it keeps your hands busy and gives your mind time to rest.   


This course is great for those that have tried Macrame and want to develop their skills.  Although beginners are welcome, please let the tutor aware, so support can be provided.  You will develop your knowledge of macrame knots and how to design your own piece.  


Materials will depend on learners project; but parcel string, shoe laces or embroidery floss can be used to practice knots.  If you have a specific project in mind, let the tutor known.   


What will be covered on the course?   

  • Within the course learners will gain an understanding of; 
  • Macrame equipment 
  • Review basic Macrame knots 
  • Look at Knots from difference areas; ie Chinese crafts 

What will learners achieve by the end of the course? 

  • At the end of the course learners will have extended understanding of some the equipment & materials available.  Learners will have some understanding of combination knots and able to plan out their own project  

None of the items are essential but the ones with (*)= recommend to get the best of the course 


Materials & Equipment Required: 

  • Macrame cord (*) 
  • Knotting Board/Cork board – a guide how to make one will be included in session one (so don’t go out and purchase one) 
  • T – Pins or Strong holding pins (useful but not essential) 
  • Parcel String is great to practice with, alternative macrame cord, or jute cord 
  • Split Key ring  
  • Curtain ring (depends on project ) 
  • Scissors

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
