About this course

The aims of the course are to support people living with dementia, and their carers if appropriate, to engage with memories of visiting, living and working in the Sherwood Forest area, in and underneath the landscape.  Learners will be supported to reminisce, reflect and respond to nature  through art, crafts, music,  poetry, games and quizzes.

Learning will be mediated via brain games, art, nature studies, crafts and poetry relating to the Sherwood Forest area.

On this course learners will achieve the following learning outcomes:-

  • Share and reflect on memories of living and working in Sherwood Forest area
  • Engage with functional English through brain games, quizzes etc and poetry and nature writing; and through self expression of reminiscence and reflective learning
  • Engage with functional maths through art and craft: measuring, comparative sizes, basic geometry
  • Connect socially through sharing of memories, opinions, perspectives
  • Respond to Nature through art, craft, music, poetry and Nature writing
  • Work together to create group poetry and art work and reflect on memories of living, working and visiting in the Sherwood Forest Area.

The chief course materials and resources are the learners’ memories, willingness to reminisce and share, and engage with activities provided by tutor.
