About this course

This is a course for adults who would like to know more about Microsoft PowerPoint

What will be covered on the course?  What will be taught to learners?

  • How to create a PowerPoint presentation
  • How to add pictures, text, videos.
  • Using animations and transitions
  • Tips on good design, effective presentation and accessibility

What will learners achieve by the end of the course?

  • Learners will have developed their confidence with using computers and be able to create professional looking PowerPoint presentations

What skills or knowledge do learners already need to have to attend the course?

  • Learners should be able to use a computer, mouse/trackpad and keyboard.
  • Some experience of opening and saving documents is preferable.

Online Learners will need access to a laptop or desktop computer with at least a microphone (headset or built-in). A webcam is preferable. The computer used for the coursework must be the same device running the Zoom meeting, as the tutor will use screen sharing to guide and assess learners.

NB: Android and Apple smartphones and tablets are not suitable; mobile versions of Microsoft apps do not have all the required functions.

The course materials have been designed around Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 365, although earlier versions and Mac versions of Office should be fine.

The online course will be delivered using Zoom: learners will watch ‘Walkthrough’ demonstrations by the tutor and then attempt tasks set in course materials.

Written course materials will be distributed as PDF files through the Zoom chat function where possible. Links to an online resource bank (handouts and ‘How-To’ videos) will be available to learners through file-sharing services.

As this course is online, a suitable device such as laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer will be required to access the course.  Zoom will be used for the live sessions and the link will be sent to you once your enrolment has been completed.
