This online course will discuss some of Sherwood’s great writers from the quirky to the quintessential. Learners will discover the legendary Sherwood Forest’s remarkable literary history and explore some of the locations within it that have inspired creativity.
Hear the stories behind the writers, poets and storytellers associated with Sherwood and discover new writing.
This course is suitable for anyone interested in literature and local history.
In this informative course, each of the hour-long sessions will feature writers and their association with the legendary Sherwood Forest area. The course will focus on different locations such as Newstead Abbey, Annesley Hall, Blidworth and Edwinstowe, and the poetry and literature related to the featured writers.
Learners will leave with a knowledge of some of the writers associated with the county, discovering how Notts writers have shaped the world. There will be some opportunity for discussion about the writers and their work.
No prior knowledge or skills are necessary, just an interest in Nottinghamshire (especially the Sherwood district) and local literature.
Learners will be required to download and use Zoom (free software).
