About this course
The aim of the course is to provide more language skills to develop the use of a phrase book.
It is suitable for adults who want more guidance on their pronunciation and how to learn important phrases for getting by in a modern foreign language.
There will be more practice and coverage of the future, present and past tenses at this level.
What will be covered on the course? What will be taught to learners?
Basic topics will be covered, such as, introductions and greetings, Spanish-speaking countries and their capitals, ordinal numbers and directions, booking a room, likes and dislikes, leisure time activities, family, shopping, helping in the house and daily routine.
Listening to questions and giving a suitable answer, asking questions and listening to the answer, and repetition of key vocabulary, will be essentials.
Grammar support will be given.
Capturing key vocabulary and phrases will be encouraged. Speaking and listening will be geared to communicating effectively. Use of a phrase book is optional.
What will learners achieve by the end of the course?
- Learners will extend their grammar and vocabulary to enable them to get more coverage of their Spanish phrase book and use it more effectively. Learners should gain more confidence in their Spanish-speaking.
- A motivational course for those who have done limited Spanish studies in the past and want to refresh and extend their studies in the near future. Increased ability in the use of modern technologies, such as, Spanish applications like Duolingo.
Previous attendance on Spanish for beginners or the equivalent of 8-hours of basic Spanish enabling learners to use basic greetings, recognize and pronounce the alphabet and use numbers.
‘Duolingo’ app users and ‘MEMRISE’ app users at introductory levels.
The pace can be adjusted to suit the learners as the use of individual learning plans are encouraged to assist this and gain confidence.

As this course is online, a suitable device such as laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer will be required to access the course. Zoom will be used for the live sessions and the link will be sent to you once your enrolment has been completed.
Booking your place and fee information
To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:
- Complete the EVENTBRITE BOOKING.
- Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.
You should be redirected to the Inspire Online Enrolment Form after completing the Eventbrite booking. If you are not redirected, please use the link supplied in the Eventbrite booking confirmation email.
To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).
As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
- Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Greater Manchester, Greater London, Liverpool City Region, Tees Valley, West Midlands and West of England.
