About this course

The intent of this course is to go beyond the holiday language and topics.  This set of 10 weeks is about learning how to speak about general themes and able to interact with Spanish speakers using a broad range of everyday topics.

What will be covered on the course? 

  • Las ocupaciones (jobs) 
  • En la oficina (the office) 
  • El mundo academico y los negocios (academic world and business) 
  • Numeros, citas, el tiempo, los verbos (presente, pasado y futuro) (numbers, appointments, the weather and verbs) 
  • El ocio (leisure time) 
  • Los deportes y los pasatiempos (sports and hobbies) 
  • Pasatiempos (hobbies) 
  • La vida social (socializing)What will learners achieve by the end of the course?  

The learners will be able to: 

  • Talk about their jobs and how to go about making appointments and general conversations in the work place as well as using the formal way of addressing people in a more formal setting (usted) 
  • Talk about their goals, achievements and general knowledge of society  
  • Talk about their hobbies and what they like to do in their spare time 
  • Describe their hobbies and listen to others talking about their hobbies 
  • Talking and describing their social live and holidays. 
  • Learners will have a better knowledge of how to use the verbs and grammar.

The learners need to have a good foundation of  basic Spanish language.   

  • They should have knowledge of: 
  • Greetings 
  • Introductions 
  • Shopping, asking for food and drinks 
  • Directions, 
  • Numbers, days of the week, months, telling the time 
  • Travelling  
  • Describing things, people and places 
  • Verbs in present tense and some knowledge of future and past tense 

You will need:

  • Dictionary

As this course is online, a suitable device such as laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer will be required to access the course.  Zoom will be used for the live sessions and the link will be sent to you once your enrolment has been completed.

To secure your place on the course BOTH the following must be done:

  • Complete our INSPIRE ONLINE ENROLMENT FORM for each person attending the course.

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must have been living in England and have been resident in the UK for the past 3 years.

Some exceptions may apply if you are living in England with evidence of the right to remain and are from an EEU/EEAU country (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

As we no longer receive funding for our ESFA-funded courses for learners living in the devolved areas listed below, full cost fees would apply to these courses if you live in these areas:
