This online course aims to give the learner a visual tour of fashion through 120 years starting during the Victorian period in 1850 and finishing in the 1970’s. You will gain an understanding of how fashion has changed during a hugely pinnacle time in fashion history. How the female silhouette has changed through this 120 year period as women’s rights have come to the forefront. It will also cover how the socio economic and political climates at the time impacted on the fashion in each decade and the development of the fashion industry following the industrial revolution.
Looking at two decades each week; This online course aims to give the learner a visual tour of fashion through 120 years starting during the Victorian period in 1850 and finishing in the 1970’s. You will gain an understanding of how fashion has changed during a hugely pinnacle time in fashion history. How the female silhouette has changed through this 120 year period as women’s rights have come to the forefront. It will also cover how the socio economic and political climates at the time impacted on the fashion in each decade and the development of the fashion industry following the industrial revolution. Also looking at which designers have influenced the fashions of each decade.
What will learners achieve by the end of the course?
An understanding of how fashion has changed during a hugely pinnacle time in fashion history. They will understand how the female silhouette has changed through this period as women’s rights have come to the forefront. They will also understand how the socio economic and political climates at the time impacted on fashion over the years. The learner will also learn about the key designers of each decade during this period. It gives the learner a deeper understanding of both fashion history and the development of the fashion industry following the industrial revolution.
As this course is online, a suitable device such as laptop, smart phone, tablet or computer will be required to access the course. Zoom will be used for the live sessions and the link will be sent to you once your enrolment has been completed
