Skills for Employment
Inspire offer a range of programmes for young people aged between 16 and 18 years of age from specialist centres across Nottinghamshire. Our dedicated team of professional tutors offer programmes including:
- Health and Social Care
in English and maths.
Our Service welcomes applications from learners who may not have had a positive school experience. Our small class sizes and our determination to provide our learners with individual support, has contributed to our excellent progression levels. Over 68% of our learners move on to additional learning and employment when they complete their time with us.
In addition to the study programme, we also offer traineeships for up to six months which include:
- a work placement
offering developmental work experience
- work training skills,
for example CV writing, interview preparation and interpersonal skills
- qualification in maths
- a range of support and
flexible training to help develop skills and progress quickly on to an
apprenticeship or secure employment.
Nottinghamshire Community Learning and Skills Service (CLASS) is now offering a growing range of apprenticeships.
When taking part in an apprenticeship, the apprentice will work to a framework of certification, gaining a work-based learning qualification alongside a functional skills qualification and a separate technical certificate.
Our apprenticeships are accredited by City and Guilds, the most well respected awarding body by both industry and commerce in the UK.
Apprenticeships at Level 2 - equivalent to 5 GCSEs.
Apprenticeships at Level 3 - equivalent to 2 A Levels.
Each apprenticeship is made up of:
- a minimum of 30 hours
per week in the work place.
- an ‘off-the-job’
element (delivered either from CLASS premises or at the employer’s site)
building a portfolio of evidence made up of assessors’ observations and
underpinning theory, demonstrating the apprentice’s ability to work
independently to the required standard.

We pay a bursary to all students. These payments are weighted towards those who face the most challenging financial barriers to taking part in education. All travel cost is refunded and Child Benefit is not affected.
Enrolment is open now with start dates between September 2016 and January 2017. Study Programme and Traineeship provision will run from youth centres in Mansfield, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Retford, Ollerton, Eastwood, Stapleford and from our newest centre in Newark Library.
