Darren has lived in Nottingham for sixteen years, mainly in Arnold until 2016.
Although he never had aspirations to write a novel, a radio bulletin he heard on a long car journey set off an idea that - 3 years later and written in 200 Degrees Coffee Shop - culminated in Child Taken being published in 2017 and, for a short time, his book sat next to Stephen King on a table at the front of Waterstones in the city centre.
But the path was far from straight-forward - he says that if he knew at the start what it would be like, he’d probably have never bothered starting - and eventually became a case of refusing to be beaten. Open, brutally honest but also able to look back and laugh about it, Darren will share his story and also answer any questions.
Child Taken will be available to buy on the day, with a Valentine’s Day surprise in one of them.
Tea/Coffee will be available after the talk for a small charge
