Come and meet the author of Cycling Legends: Tom Simpson, a lavishly illustrated book that tells Simpson’s story in more depth and detail than it has ever been told before.

Sir Bradley Wiggins recently said that Tom is: “Arguably the most complete British road racer of all time”.

Tom grew up in Harworth but left in 1959 to pursue his career as a professional cyclist in Europe, where he won races that no British cyclist has won since. His story is one of ambition, talent, success and ultimately tragedy when he died while racing in the 1967 Tour de France.

Find out more from author Chris Sidwells who will be at Bircotes Library from 10am – 12pm. Copies of his book will be available to buy.
