This course will help you to paint in the Impressionistic style. Every week we will study one of the French painters to better understand the style and you will complete one small painting in the style of the artist. Tuition is provided through a mixture of demonstrations and exercises according to your needs.
During the course, the principles of drawing and painting are progressively practiced with techniques, including drawing composition and perspective. You will discover how to apply contrast, colour theory, and tonal values to create beautiful paintings that burst with light using acrylics on canvas. By the end of the course, you will be more confident to:
•How to sketch a composition
•Simplify and separate tonal values into areas of light and shadow,
•How to use contrast, warm and cool colours effectively
•How to mix and balance naturalistic blues creating a subtle acrylic palette and a realistic sense of sunlight
