Celebrating Black History Month with Into the Light: Pioneers of Black British Ballet
This Black History Month, Inspire Libraries are proud to host Into the Light: Pioneers of Black British Ballet, a powerful series of events celebrating the ground-breaking contributions of Black dancers who helped shape British ballet.
Funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and created by Oxygen Arts with Libraries Connected, the Into the Light exhibition and event shines a light on the often-overlooked history of Black performers in British ballet and includes research by Dr. Sandie Bourne.
Join us throughout October and November for varied events including Photography Workshops, and our Black British Ballet Panel Event on 13 November. Featuring dancers from the Black British Ballet project discussing their rich and varied careers in ballet and beyond. Learn more about the challenges they faced, the celebrities they met and their adventures overseas in one wonderful evening.
