Who we are

Inspire is an innovative new cultural organisation launched by Nottinghamshire County Council. We are a Community Benefit Society that is dedicated to inspiring people to grow, learn and achieve with the help of our services.

Nottinghamshire has a rich and vibrant cultural history, with a thriving creative community. We aim to nurture this by inspiring an appetite for learning and a desire to get involved with local cultural activities. We believe passionately in encouraging growth and personal development, whether through a love of reading, music, the arts or education.

It’s free to join Inspire and becoming a member will allow you to help shape the way our services are managed. You do not need to be an Inspire member to access our services, but we are keen grow our membership. This will help us to give as many people a say in how their local services are run as possible.

We strive to ensure the highest quality in everything we do and always put our customers and learners first. Above all, the care for our workforce, our service offer and the communities we serve is paramount.

Our reputation is really important to us at Inspire, as well as Nottinghamshire County Council and our funders. We will build on the excellent reputation our services have to position Inspire as the flagship cultural and learning organisation for Nottinghamshire.

Our Mission is to inspire people to read, learn and enjoy culture.

What we do

Inspire has been created to manage some of Nottinghamshire’s libraries, archives and cultural services.

We want to better connect people to our services and make it easy for them to get involved. We will listen closely to our members, helping us to consistently deliver exceptional and inclusive customer service across all areas.

Inspire will provide the following services on behalf of the Council:

  • Public Libraries
  • Archives
  • Arts
  • Instrumental Music Teaching in Schools
  • Community Learning and Skills Service
  • Nottinghamshire Music Hub
  • Education Library Service

Culture, Learning and Libraries (Midlands), trading as Inspire, is a Community Benefit Society registered under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. The Society’s register number is 7139.
