Inspire Culture, Learning and Libraries has been a proud delivery partner on a fantastic scheme called Miner2Major: The Real Sherwood Forest (from January 2019 - June 2024).
The scheme, supported by a grant from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, encouraged local people and community groups to get involved in projects aimed at learning about, celebrating and conserving Nottinghamshire's heritage.

The Big Draw 2023: Time to Connect helped join six nature and heritage sites across Sherwood Forest through community arts and drawing.
Heritage
An exhibition showing fascinating insight into the smaller, often hidden species that are essential to the complex ecosystem of the Sherwood Forest landscape. Natural history photographer Alex Hyde has visited sites across the Sherwood Forest area to open our eyes to the wonder of these species.

We worked with Nottinghamshire Police, Newark and Sherwood District Council and Creative Lives for Inspire's 2023 Charity Knitting Challenge supporting Nottinghamshire crafters to make Brave Bears for charities working with children in times of need.
Reading & Libraries
We’ve created a series of six audio walks, written and directed by Excavate's Andy Barrett, and led by Sherwood people, who will take you on a journey through the stories and culture of the Sherwood Forest area.

We teamed up with a merry band of Nottinghamshire crafters to knit and crochet mini Robin Hood hats for our 2021 Inspire Charity Knitting Challenge as part of The Innocent Big Knit to raise money for Age UK. Over 2,200 hats were sent in!

Groups across the Miner2Major area joined in with The Big Draw 2020: A Climate of Change by working with local artist Jess Kemp to collectively create metres of silk painted festival bunting. Every flag we received was hand-painted from the community exploring the 8 themes of the Miner2Major scheme.

A virtual exhibition featuring poetry inspired by archive images of the people, landscapes and stories of the Sherwood Forest area.
