In November 2024, our libraries migrated to a new system for managing stock and customer data. Read on for the latest updates and developments regarding your experience in libraries and using our new online catalogue.

Books on order
New books which are on order aren’t currently showing on our online catalogue. Our supplier has identified the problem and has reported that they will fix the issue as soon as possible. In the meantime, if there are new books which you would like to check if we have ordered and place a reservation, please contact your local library or Ask Inspire.
Online Catalogue speed
Thank you for all your feedback on the speed of our new online catalogue. We have been working with our supplier and they have now been able to identify improvements. These will be made over the coming weeks.
Update (09/05/25) - We are sorry for the ongoing issues with our online catalogue. We are working hard with our supplier to fix the problems. High usage has been causing some disruptions. Our supplier has invested in new servers and upgraded the network, which will improve the website over the coming months. You will start to see better service soon, and as part of the improvements, email notifications will also become more reliable and timely. We apologise for the problems our customers are experiencing and thank you for your patience.
Customer email notifications
We are currently experiencing issues with email notifications sending to a number of email providers, including Yahoo and BT Internet. We are working on resolving this with our suppliers.
If you think this is affecting you, we can set up free text notifications as an alternative for overdue items and reservation in the meantime. Please speak to a member of library staff or Ask Inspire to do this.
Customer Text Notifications
There is currently no text service available for Pre-overdue notices which we are working on with our suppliers to resolve.
In the meantime, please check your online account or contact the Ask Inspire team if you need a reminder of when your items are due back.
Renewal Message Display
Our system doesn’t allow you to renew the same item more than once to stop you using up a renewal without changing the due date. If you did try to do this, the message "cannot be renewed" will display. You would be able to renew again from the next day onwards.
Loan history unavailable
Loan history before November 2024 is currently unavailable. Our suppliers are working hard to resolve this, however we do not currently have a fixed date.
