In November 2024, our libraries migrated to a new system for managing stock and customer data. Read on for the latest updates and developments regarding your experience in libraries and using our new online catalogue.
See demonstations of how to log in, renew and reserve at the bottom of this page.
While our system is available for use and can carry out tasks such as renewing and reserving items, we are still making changes and ensuring it runs as smoothly as possible. Our IT team are looking into this as a matter of priority. Thank you for your patience whilst we make our new system the best it can be for our customers
25.11.24 - Missing reservations
We are aware that some items that were reserved before our migration are no longer showing on customer's online accounts. This is due to a change in how our 'on order' items are processed, which we hope to improve in the coming weeks. If you are impacted by this, please be assured that your item is still reserved (and you will remain in the position you were before the migration). Once the item has been processed on our end, your reservation should be visible on your account screen.
25.11.24 - Overdue notifications
Since migrating to a new library management system, our email notifications have been suspended. This means that you may have overdue charges on your account that you weren't made aware of as per our usual process.
Overnight from 25 to 26 November, our suppliers will be removing any ongoing overdue fines that have accrued during this period. If you have recently returned or renewed an item for which overdue fines were accrued, these will need to be removed manually by a member of our team. In this time our notifications will also be switched on, and you should begin to recieve overdue and hold available messages from us. We apologise for the inconvenience.
22.11.24 - Search functionality
Our new catalogue is more sophisticated and therefore the advanced search function may take some getting used to. As the system develops we intend on providing training materials to our staff to help you search for items more effectively.
We are aware of an issue currently whereby audio and large print items cannot be found using our search tool. We are working on this as a matter of priority.
20.11.24 - Users unable to log in
We are aware of an issue whereby users with letters in their PIN aren't successful in logging in to our online catalogue. We are investigating this and aim to have a solution soon. In the meantime, select "forgotten PIN?" on the sign in screen and reset your PIN to a 4-digit number.
UPDATE 25.11.24 To ensure your PIN is secure, our system will not allow a new PIN of 1234. Any other series of numbers should work.
20.11.24 - Wish Lists
We can confirm that unfortunately Wish Lists from our old library catalogue have not been migrated to the current system. We apologise for this and encourage users to try out the Wish List feature on our new catalogue.
20.11.24 - Nottingham City users
Currently, those registered at Nottingham City libraries are unable to log in to the Inspire catalogue, and vice versa. We are hoping to have this fixed very soon and apologise for the inconvenience.
UPDATE 25.11.24 This includes an issue whereby City members are unable to reserve items to collect at County libraries. To resolve this, speak to a member of our team who can switch your membership to county, allowing you to collect at an Inspire library. We are hoping to have this issue resolved in the coming days.
20.11.24 - User notifications
Our customer notifications aren't active yet, meaning you will be manually informed of available reservations by a member of our team. We hope to resolve this soon.
20.11.24 - Loan history unavailable
We are aware that loan history is currently not available for our users. These files are with our suppliers and are being loaded into our new system gradually over the coming weeks.
20.11.24 - Online resources
All of our eLibrary apps - BorrowBox, Libby and PressReader - are now working. If you are struggling to log in, try entering your library card number with a capital D as this has been found to work for users of BorrowBox.
20.11.24 - Mobile app
We have been made aware of some users attempting to use the now out of date app Notts Library. This app was discontinued by our last system provider over 5 years ago and therefore does not link up with our current stock and user base. Please delete this app and try out our new catalogue, which is optimised for mobile.
Need help navigating?
We understand that our new catalogue may take some getting used to. If you require help finding what you need, check out our FAQ page or watch a demonstration.
New stock in libraries
We will temporarily be unable to order new stock while we are linking our ordering system with our new library management system. We will aim to get popular recent releases onto our library shelves as soon as possible.
Stock suggestions
We're unable to accept stock suggestions for the time being. Our online suggestion form will be accessible on our new library catalogue once this service is available again.
Mobile library customers
We are aware that mobile library customers cannot currently reserve an item to their mobile library.
UPDATE 22.11.24 This has now been rectified, thank you for your patience.
