Inspire Youth Arts are proud to present their brand-new immersive projection experience, Orbit, at Nottingham Light Night 2025. Visitors can enjoy Orbit at Nottingham Castle on Friday 28 February and Saturday 1 March, 6 – 9.30pm. Entry is free and open to all.
Created through a collaboration between young people on Inspire Youth Arts programmes, Urban Projections, Lindley Productions and electronic music producer Kirk Spencer; Orbit will turn Nottingham Castle into a canvas for reflection and wonder. Inspired by the Overview Effect—the profound shift in perspective astronauts feel when they see Earth from space. The piece explores humanity’s connection to our planet and the universe.
Each evening will open with Inspire Youth Arts young musicians performing live drumming and electronic beats at Nottingham Castle bandstand in collaboration with Beatfeet and Trekkah, followed by the immersive projection on the castle walls.
Light Night is produced by Nottingham City Council and It’s in Nottingham – the city’s business improvement district. The event is funded by the National Lottery through Arts Council England, It’s in Nottingham, and Nottingham City Council. Cultural organisations across the city also support the event.
“Inspire Youth Arts’ Light Night commission has become a highlight of the Inspire calendar. I am excited to experience Orbit and see the hard work the young people and artists have put in, to create a performance that tackles such an important topic – our planet”.
"Light Night is a fantastic celebration of creativity, collaboration, and community spirit in Nottingham. We are proud to support Inspire Youth Arts in bringing Orbit to life, transforming Nottingham Castle into a breath-taking spectacle that explores our connection to the planet. Events like this not only highlight the incredible talent in our city but also make culture and the arts accessible to everyone."
