Following on from their success at Unlocked, part of the Soundstage Festival earlier this year, Able Orchestra (AO) returned with AO 360 – a powerful new showcase of original music and digital art at Fletcher’s Theatre, Nottingham, on Saturday 15 November 2025.
AO 360 continued to showcase AO’s pioneering approach, profiling accessible music making and digital performance, including new collaborations with Urban Projections, BeatFeet and Tom Shawcroft. Previous events had included work with BBC Philharmonic, The Hallé, Orchestra of the Swan and Dyskinetic Ltd, gaining national recognition with support from Orchestras Live.
AO 360 brought together young musicians from across Nottinghamshire, celebrating creativity, innovation and inclusion. The performance featured new musical and digital compositions created using accessible digital instruments and technology that enabled every participant to contribute.
The event highlighted the work of the AO Ensembles, as well as work developed in schools, colleges and communities, alongside the inspiring AO Pioneers – a group of young leaders shaping the future of inclusive music-making. It also marked the debut of AO’s newest group, the Cotgrave-based AO South Ensemble, further expanding the reach of the project across the county.
More than a performance, AO 360 was a celebration of collaboration and imagination. Audiences experienced striking visuals, immersive soundscapes and original compositions exploring the changing seasons and the connections that music creates.
Before the main show, guests explored a range of sensory stations and activities in the foyer, designed in collaboration with AO members. These hands-on experiences offered guests a glimpse into the creative and technological processes behind some of the performances.
