Sutton in Ashfield Library - temporary changes to opening hours and alternative provision

Due to freezing temperatures and lack of heating in the building, Sutton in Ashfield Library is currently offering a reduced service and will close at 1pm daily. During this time:

  • Customers will have limited access to library book stock on the ground floor, which includes titles suitable for children. You can return, renew, request books and collect reservations as usual.
  • There is customer access to a public computer and photocopier/printing on the ground floor. Sessions are limited to 30 minutes.
  • Registration services will be relocated to their Mansfield office. Please contact them directly for more information about this change.
  • The upstairs meeting room remains available for learning courses and room bookings.
  • Some scheduled activities will continue to run, though with reduced capacity. This week commencing 5 January, Rattle Rhyme and Roll is cancelled (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday sessions). Woolly Bookworms craft group is also cancelled. Poetry group and Lego Club will continue to go ahead, with the latter at a reduced number. Places of Welcome will go ahead in the upstairs meeting room and will provide hot drinks and a biscuit to those attending – though space will be limited to around 25 people.

During this time, nearby Skegby and Stanton Hill Library will extend their opening hours to the following:

Monday 1pm – 5pm
Tuesday 1pm-5pm
Wednesday 9am-5pm
Thursday 1pm-5pm
Friday 1pm-5pm
Saturday 9am-3pm

These changes will be in place until further notice, at which point this notice will be updated. Any items due to be returned to Sutton in Ashfield Library during this period will be automatically extended and subsequent charges removed – you do not need to do anything. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and will continue to keep the wellbeing of our staff and users a priority as the situation develops.
