Online Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Achievement

Our online Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Achievement comprises three units:

• Unit 1: Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
• Unit 2: Assess occupational competence in the work environment
• Unit 3: Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding

Once all three units are achieved you will become a qualified assessor enabling you to assess in a classroom or in a work environment.   This is one of the most popular qualifications if you are involved in the delivery of apprenticeships or work-based assessments.

You will need a good standard of English, maths and IT. You will need to have good communication skills both written and verbal.

This Assessor Award is for assessors who deliver non-NVQ or non-competence-based vocational qualifications within the RQF. Therefore, this qualification is suitable for you if your role involves assessing learners at their place or learning using a variety of methods.

You will need to be part of a team (whether paid, unpaid, permanent or voluntary) that delivers RQF qualifications which are assessed to meet the qualification standards.

You will also need to identify the Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) who will ensure that the following is carried out:

• Your IQA must ensure that you receive an induction for the qualification(s) you will be assessing on how to assess against the qualification standards/requirements and complete their paperwork prior to starting the training sessions.
• They will provide you with the qualification standards and paperwork to assess by for your area.
• Your IQA will allocate an experienced and competent Assessor from your team who will act as your mentor (if required).  In very small teams this role may also be carried out by the IQA.

This course is delivered online, providing flexibility to study from the comfort of your own home.

You will need a laptop or computer and internet to enable you to access the live classes via Zoom. You will also be required to attend each of the 4 sessions and then hold 1:1s with your tutor after the delivered sessions whilst collecting evidence to complete your portfolio.

You will be required to complete one written assignment and 2-4 competence assessments. 

You will also need to be working or attending a voluntary placement where you can assess learners.

This qualification is specified as a requirement by some awarding organisations and sectors skills councils in order to assess certain qualifications – successful achievement will help you evidence this demand.

The cost of this course is £750. 

The course is free if you're aged 19-23 and meet one of the following:

• You do not already hold a full level 3 qualification
• You earn less than £25,750 per annum (individual income)
• You are unemployed and in receipt of eligible benefits (Jobseekers Allowance, Universal Credit, Employment and Support Allowance).

Courses are free if you're aged 24+ and meet one of the following:

• You earn less than £25,750 per annum (individual income)
• You are unemployed and in receipt of eligible benefits (Jobseeker's Allowance, Universal Credit, Employment and Support Allowance)

If you already have a Level 3 (full) qualification, but have an individual income of more than £25,750 per annum, you will be required to pay fees (for 50%) of the cost of the course.
