SWAPs (Sector-based Work Academy Programmes)

Working with the Department of Work and Pensions to identify and train outstanding job candidates

A SWAP (Sector-based Work Academy Programme) is an intensive course that is set up in partnership with the DWP and an employer.

When an employer has a vacancy, a SWAP is set up to ensure candidates have the basic knowledge and skills to be suitable for the job.

How We Can Support Your Business

Inspire Adult Learning provides training for candidates, identified by the DWP, that can be tailored to meet your business needs and requirements. Candidates spend a day with the employer, getting to know the organisation and what the job entails. Following a short, intensive training course, the employer then conducts interviews with the newly trained candidates.

Inspire’s training guarantees a level of knowledge and ensures employers do not waste their time interviewing unsuitable people. We are able to offer suitable candidates skills and qualifications as part of the SWAP in the following areas, so you are sure they are ready to hit the ground running when they start:

  • Construction
  • Education
  • Health & Social Care
  • Hospitality and Catering
  • Logistics
  • Manufacturing
  • Retail
