About The Lullaby Bank
These sessions are specifically designed for the needs of new mothers of babies, addressing the post-partum experience, and all the challenges and joys it can bring. During the session we sing a variety of lullabies from around the globe, whilst enjoying how they open up a new world of soothing and story-telling to our babies. Singing to babies has been a cross-cultural and generational tool for thousands of years and is scientifically proven to encourage a serotonin (the happy hormone) release in both the singer and the recipient, as well as to encourage communication, and later speech, in infants.
We also do some baby-massage and basic signing, as well as some play time rhymes and songs. The class is built to work for babies from 0-9 months, to remain as quiet and relaxing a space as possible (i.e., before they can crawl/walk too far).
The class is a breast-feeding safe space and offers a chance to connect with other new mums in what can often be a very isolating and exhausting time.
