Commemorating the 40th anniversary of the closure of Moorgreen Colliery

Take a walk down memory lane with our mining photographs & memorabilia, featuring:

  • An exhibition of photographs & memorabilia by Anthony Kirby
  • Local mining historian David Amos will be here talking about his mining experiences and the forthcoming book in collaboration with Paul Fillingham 'Those Coaltown Days: A Glance Back at Social History in the Nottinghamshire Coalfield’. 
  • The D H Lawrence Museum – artefacts and local history publications.
  • The Hidden Valley Poets will be doing readings of their brilliant local themed poetry.
  • Inspire’s Heritage team will be here with resources from our archives and will also be inviting people to record their memories for future generations.   

All this to the backdrop of the beautiful sounds of the Eastwood Collieries Male Voice Choir


All Welcome – particularly ex-Miners and their families! Come and have a cuppa and a chat and reminisce with us, bring your photographs and memories and tell us your stories of the camaraderie and the life of a Miner.
