The new guide will take you from the start of the festive period into a brand-new year. Get into the spirit with us at Inspired Christmas Concert 2025 or choose local for your Christmas shopping at one of our markets in libraries. 2026 is an exciting year as it officially marks the National Year of Reading! This campaign aims to reignite a culture of reading for pleasure across the UK through the message of Go All In! Discover how reading in all its forms can unlock more of what you love.
It’s the perfect year to join us for an author visit, or to try something new and invent your own stories at one of our I Am A Storyteller workshops, perfect for families.
There’s no better activity on a cold day than staying indoors and watching your favourite film. We’ve got even bigger programme of dementia friendly and relaxed film screenings this season, ranging from family classics like The Jungle Book, to Academy Award winners like Casablanca.
In January, we welcome the theatre making team from Nottingham Playhouse back to libraries as the popular Magical Missions series returns for under 5s, this time with a winter theme. They'll also bring family theatre to Worksop Library with their retelling of the classic The Little Mermaid. In February half-term we’re taking flight with Last Unicorn Airways family theatre, and for the first time we’re bringing family theatre to the youngest members of the family with Counting Sheeps – for ages 0 – 3 and their very tired grown-ups!
We’re delighted to bring you a new project called Hucknall, Skegby and Selston: Then & Now, which will bring workshops, heritage talks, exhibitions and a celebration event to Ashfield from February. Plus, our usual programme of heritage talks and workshops will continue to celebrate Nottinghamshire’s rich and varied history.
This is just a small overview of some of the events we’ve got planned, so do browse the guide to find out what’s on near you.
We look forward to welcoming you soon.
