Beyond the Greenwood: Hidden Valley Poets Book Launch

Beyond the Greenwood is the first anthology from a new group of poets living in Nottinghamshire’s Hidden Valley, meet the group and hear poems about Nottinghamshire by local writers, inspired by legends, local history, nature and contemporary issues at the book launch! 

The Hidden Valley Poets met on a poetry course run by Inspire at Ravenshead Library in early 2022. The course was part of the Miner2Major project, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, celebrating the important habitats, special species and rich heritage of the Sherwood Forest area of Nottinghamshire

The Hidden Valley area of Nottinghamshire lies between the north of Nottingham reaching to Mansfield, stretching from Hucknall to Ollerton. The Hidden Valley is an area of contrasts - open fields, wildlife and ancient woodlands juxtaposed with remnants of industry - coal pits, disused railways and mills. 

After the course finished the group continued to meet up to write and discuss poetry, and still meet regularly to share the poems they've written and to read and be inspired by the work of other poets.
