Inspire Poetry Festival: Bigger On The Inside

Poet and comedian Kate Fox once thought receiving a positive diagnosis for autism had as much a chance of happening as a female Doctor Who. As such, since the Doctor’s 13th incarnation (played by Jodie Whittaker) in 2018, Fox’s life has changed quite a bit. 

Fox gives voice to an alternative autistic experience in this funny and smart stand-up spoken word show, first performed as a work in progress at the Autism Arts Festival (University of Kent, April 2019). By looking at autism and neurodiversity through the theme of Doctor Who, Fox takes us through the ways the iconic sci-fi show has shaped her view of the world.

Kate Fox is a stand up poet, spoken word artist and broadcaster.

She’s a regular contributor to Radio 3’s spoken word cabaret “The Verb”, has made two comedy series for Radio 4, been Poet in Residence for the Glastonbury Festival and the Great North Run and has completed a PhD in stand up comedy.
