Leading house historian, Melanie Backe-Hansen,  co-author of A House Through Time, with David Olusoga, will be speaking about researching the history of houses in Nottinghamshire. Melanie will tell stories of the local houses featured in her book House Histories, giving details of the sources used, and including a property linked with Lord Byron, one connected to a Second World War airfield, and one in the Park Estate in Nottingham.

Points to note about the booking.

  • Advance booking is required.  
  • The talk will take place via Zoom. Your personal link to join will be sent out one day in advance of the event by email to the address given on your booking. This will be generated via Eventbrite and, depending on your email settings, may sometimes be found in a junk mail folder.
  • Microphones may need to be muted and audience questions will be selected via the Q&A function.
  • This will be a unique, live event and will not be recorded.

Zoom (www.zoom.us) is the online platform we will be using to run this session.

  • You do not need to have a Zoom account -  a link will be emailed to the email address you provide when booking.

The recommended equipment needed for online sessions is

  • A PC/Laptop, iPad/tablet or ‘phone that can run Zoom (an app may need to be downloaded if using an iPad/tablet or ‘phone) with a webcam and microphone
  • Good power supply
  • Minimum 2 mbps broadband speed
