More than 500 beautiful handmade Wrapped scarves have been made for this exhibition at West Bridgford Library.
A visually stunning celebration of yarn crafts and a perfect example of a creative community coming together to generously give their time, skills and wool!
Inspire: Culture, Learning and Libraries, Mansfield Building Society, Creative Lives and Trussell are supporting the challenge to make knitted and crocheted scarves to be given as warm gifts.
Nottinghamshire knitwear designer Jane Withers has inspired crafters across the county (and beyond!) to pick up their knitting needles, crochet hooks and lots and lots of wool to get creative for a good cause.
581 scarves have been received!
THANK YOU to everyone for making wonderful woolly scarves!
Here are some of the lovely comments we received about the exhibition:
Well done all the knitters. They are lovely.
Inspired!
Absolutely wonderful to see something different and a contribution from so many local artists. This brought me so much joy.
This is lovely to see, women's works of art finally being showcased. Knowing this took so much time and that is inspirational.
Vibrant, joyful, cheers a cloudy day. Thanks to all the knitters and to our library for hosting this lovely display.
Extremely well done! Must take lots of work!
As a crocheter I was amazed to see all of the beautiful creations people just like me have made!
Really lovely, well done all you clever knitters and crochet stitchers!
I loved seeing all the 'Wrapped' knitting creations. Thank you for all your efforts everyone! It was difficult to tell if it was knitted or crocheted sometimes. It's inspired me to get out my own needles and hooks again and get creating.
It is wonderful to see so many people respond to the challenge. Well done everyone.
Lovely, bright and inspiring. Congrats to all who participated.
Amazing crafts people. You've inspired me to get my knitting needles out and practice for next year's challenge! Thank you.
This installation is a wonderfully tactile celebration of colour and texture, inviting viewers to experience the warmth and craftsmanship woven into each piece.
The diverse array of knitted scarves, each featuring it's own unique pattern and vibrancy, showcases not only skill but an imaginative dialogue between tradition and contemporary artistry.
I really liked how the contrasting colours didn't fight but lived together peacefully.
What a brilliant thing to do!!
What a fantastic project!
I loved the colours, especially the pink, purple and blue. Great project!
Well worth the bus journey to visit, excellent display and very inspiring.
Wonderful and exotic display of colours and talent!
It is beautiful that you all have the skill set to create colourful, nice scarves.
It is very cool and colourful. It is nice that you have set this up.
All of these are so good you're all very talented.
I was so impressed. Talented people.
Absolutely inspiring!
They all look very beautiful and fabulous. Well done for all the hard work you've put in!
A special thank you to all the ladies at Bingham Library 'Crafty Chat'. Not only have they taught me to crochet but I have knitted my first scarf in fifty years. They all have a 'can do' attitude. It has been good for me to make new friends whilst supporting Trussell. Thank you too for the enthusiasm and kind support from the Bingham Library staff. We all gain so much from giving our time to others. Thank you to everyone who has been involved in 'Wrapped' I have enjoyed every aspect of this very positive project.
Thank you for the invite today to see the display of wonderful woolly scarves from all the woolly crafters set out so beautifully. Wonderfully displayed - colourful, coordinated well. Especially enjoyed seeing the rolled up ones in the cabinet and all positioned on top of where the book shelves are. Thank you to everyone's hard work from Mapperley and St Ann's Craft Group.
Fabulous variety - displayed beautifully. A wonderful charity project. Well done all.
Absolutely loved the scarves they are beautiful.
What I like is the fact that this Wrapped Exhibition highlights and reinforces a sense of community, with a common aim to share and enjoy craft skills but at the same time giving comfort and joy to the gallery visitors and to the recipients of these wonderful colourful scarves. Well done everybody!
Loved seeing them and I can see lots of hard work and pleasure has gone into these scarves. Craft is so calming and enjoyable.
Lovely to see! Hopefully others will love benefiting from them after the exhibition.
The Wrapped Exhibition has now ended and all scarves will be gifted by project partners Trussell.
