RBDigital eAudio books and eMagazines now available in the Libby app

On Wednesday 3 March we moved our digital eAudio books and eMagazines from RBdigital to Overdrive. 

You will continue to be able to browse, borrow, and enjoy all the same great eAudio and eMagazines you loved in the RBdigital app, available through the Libby app from OverDrive, and all still free as part of your Inspire library membership. 

Getting Started with Libby

We are proud to continue to offer you a wide selection of digital titles for you to access anytime, anywhere through the award-winning Libby app. All you will need to get started in Libby is your device and your library card number (and PIN number).

Transition from RBdigital

If you currently have a book checked out in the RBdigital app, it will be available through the remainder of the lending period, so you can finish your title without disruption or risk of losing your place in the book.

Holds will not be moved, but you may export your Transaction History from the RBdigital websites by accessing My Account > Profiles. You can place holds on those titles again in Libby.

RBdigital who supply our eMagazines and some of our eAudiobooks is being taken over by OverDrive, which is a world leading supplier of eResources.

This will happen on Wednesday 3 March. There will be messages in the RBdigital app, on their webpages and on ours. RBdigital will email all customers to alert them to this change.

Any items on loan at the time of the changeover will remain available until the end of the loan period. Holds will not be transferred but you can place them again using the new service. You can export your history from RBdigital by going to MY ACCOUNT > PROFILES > Export My Transaction History.

Yes, but it’s quick and easy to do. You will need your library card number and PIN.

OverDrive use the Libby app which is available for Apple devices (OS 9.0 and upwards), Android devices (5.00 and upwards) and Windows 10. Unfortunately, it is not available for Kindle Fire devices, but the older OverDrive app is. You can use Libby for both eAudiobooks and eMagazines.

If you have an older card or have lost yours since you registered with RBdigital and been given a new one, the system will not recognise the new number. Contact Ask Inspire using the details above and they will help you.

No. Most of the time devices will store the log in details if you choose to.

You can take up to 10 items for three weeks. You may return them early if you’ve finished with them.

There are no limits on eMagazines and eAudiobook limits are unaffected by this.

Most of our current titles will transfer to OverDrive. The magazine collection will be much larger! Existing titles will be available, along with up to 3,000 new UK and international titles.

Unfortunately, not at the moment, but OverDrive are working to provide this function.

Yes, there will be 3 years’ worth of back issues, including for titles we don’t subscribe to at present.

You can place holds, return items early if you’ve finished with them, change the font size, speed up audio playback and more.
