Say hello to your improved Burton Joyce Library

Published 12th June 2023

We are excited to inform you that after eight weeks of refurbishment Burton Joyce Library reopened to the public on Saturday 10 June. We hope to see you at our relaunch event on Saturday 8 July at 10am for exciting activities, local stalls and FREE cake and refreshments!

Burton Joyce was one of six libraries to have received investment from the Libraries Improvement Fund (LIF), which is part of the Cultural Investment Fund a programme of work funded by the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) delivered by Arts Council England. Nottinghamshire County Council, partnering with Inspire were awarded £170,000 to create community hubs within these six libraries in Nottinghamshire, transforming the buildings into flexible welcoming spaces for communities to use and enjoy.

As well as transforming the library space, Inspire led community consultation sessions to ensure activities and events are suited to the community of Burton Joyce. Following this, events and activities will be offered such as:

  • Join our Yarns and Threads group Wednesday 2pm.
  • Attend our Adult Board Games group Thursdays 2pm.
  • Free and low-cost courses on a wide variety of subjects.
  • Get creative with our family craft activities.
  • Join our Adult Reading Group for their monthly meetings, Monday at 10am.
  • Have a coffee and a chat at our Places of Welcome on Friday mornings at 10am.
  • Have a musical morning at our Rattle, Rhyme and Roll for under 5s on Wednesdays at 10.30am.
  • Story time with stay and play for children Friday at 2:30pm.
  • Regular family art and craft activities drop-in.

We're delighted to welcome back the community of Burton Joyce to our newly improved library space, and look forward to our relaunch event on Saturday 8 July.
