Would you like to try art techniques. Perhaps you were not sure if you could paint but now have the time to explore as a beginner.

This course will help you build confidence in drawing and painting, beginning on a small postcard, you will explore art materials, then express your self in art. Also, you do not have to be able to draw, as we will use tracing an image, to paint shapes from nature. We will also rule of three to create a simple landscape composition.

What will be covered on the course?

Session 1: Analysing art materials Session 2: Experimenting with colour and techniques

Session 3: Compare pastel, pencil and paint techniques

Session 4: Draw and paint natural forms

Session 5: Draw and paint a simple seascape

Session 6: Create a simple landscape in pastel

What will you achieve by the end of the course?

• Make pencil and paint marks on a postcard

• Demonstrate colour mixing

• Paint natural forms

• Draw and paint a simple landscape and sea scape

No previous skills or knowledge are required to join this course.

Residency in England

To book and enrol on one of our courses, you must be living in England permanently and live outside of the devolved areas listed below or live within the East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA) devolved area (Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire).

Residency Eligibility – other criteria

If you are living in the UK on a visa we will require evidence of this in order to be funded for the course, you can upload this evidence when you apply for the course. (completion of a questionnaire will be required).

Some exceptions may apply for example

• Your visa expiry date must be beyond the end of your course

• Asylum seekers must have lived in the UK for 6 months or longer while their claim is being considered by the Home Office

• You are receiving local authority support under section 23C or section 23CA of the Children Act 1989 or the Care Act 2014

Any learner who is not funded full cost fees would apply to these courses.
